Scott Sweeny

Scott Sweeny has a diverse work experience in software engineering, with a focus on autonomous vehicles and Linux-based systems. In their most recent role as a Senior Software Engineer and Team Lead at Motional, they led a team responsible for developing components of an autonomous vehicle platform. This included creating a custom Linux-based operating system, implementing hardware-in-loop bench automation, and deploying software and configuration to vehicles. Prior to this, Scott worked at Aptiv as a Senior Software Engineer, where they refactored the data logging subsystem and updated the high-performance compute OS and toolchain for autonomous vehicles. Scott also has experience as a Software Engineer at Canonical Ltd., where they worked on various software engineering projects, and as a Linux Engineer at Timesys Corp, where they developed audio drivers and custom platform builders. Scott's early career includes roles at Bombardier Transportation, where they implemented control software for automated people movers, and at the University of Pittsburgh, where they served as a Research Assistant.

Scott Sweeny earned their BSE in Computer Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh between 2001 and 2005. Scott then pursued further education and obtained their MSE in Electrical Engineering from the same institution from 2007 to 2010.
