Kiran Varanasi has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. They started their career at Micromation, Inc as a Software Engineer and Application Development Manager, where they managed projects for Fortune 500 clients and government agencies. They then joined ICON Clinical Research as a Programming Group Manager.
In 2007, Kiran joined Direct Energy, where they held various roles including Director of IT Transformation, Director of Front Office Solutions in Power & Gas, Director of IT in Retail Portfolio Management, and Head of Delivery & Change Management in the Upstream & Trading unit. They led teams, introduced Agile methodologies, and implemented cost optimization strategies.
In 2017, Kiran became the Director of Infrastructure & Service Operations for Direct Energy, where they established a Service Delivery function and developed service design and transition strategies. They also served as the Director of Global Digital Technology Services for Centrica Business & Direct Energy, leading service delivery improvements and infrastructure operations.
In 2020, when NRG acquired Direct Energy from Centrica, Kiran played a key role in the separation and integration program as the Director of Digital Technology Services. They spearheaded the integration of technology infrastructure and service operations, and currently, they are working on the integration of applications and data.
Currently, Kiran is the Director of Strategy, Architecture & Infrastructure at Motiva Enterprises LLC.
Kiran Varanasi completed a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Andhra University between 1987 and 1991. Later, between 1993 and 1996, Kiran obtained a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Florida State University.
