Andy Stewart joined Motive Partners in 2016 and is an Industry Partner. At Motive, Andy sources and executes investment opportunities with a focus on strategy and growth for Motive portfolio companies, through his extensive experience in building and leading alternative investment businesses across some of the most successful asset management firms and banks in the world. In parallel, Andy serves as chief innovation officer at Wilshire and is executive chairman of Global Shares, where he supports strategic initiatives to capitalize on market opportunities and foster growth. He previously served as the chairman of the board of directors and was an advisory board member of Finantix, which is now a part of the InvestCloud platform.
Prior to joining Motive Partners, Andy co-led Blackrock’s Alternative Investment Platform (BAI). During his tenure, BAI invested in a wide array of notable acquisitions, including a leading Asian and European real estate business, Latin American infrastructure platform and a U.S. middle market lending platform. Andy chaired BAI’s Executive Committee and was a member of BAI’s Investment Committees, as well as Blackrock’s Global Operating and Human Capital Committees.
Before BAI, Andy helped build the Credit Suisse alternatives business into a robust driver of profitability and managed the global credit, commodities, insurance and hedge fund strategies across the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Prior to joining Credit Suisse, Andy helped build Man Investments into one of the largest publicly traded alternative asset management firms in the world.
Andy earned a J.D. from the Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington where he served as an Editor of the Indiana Law Journal and graduated Cum Laude, and a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Andy is also a CAIA charter-holder.
