Brent has led C- and V-level searches in North America, Europe, South America, Australia, and Asia, on behalf of leading VCs such as Sequoia Capital, Accel, Lakestar, Redpoint, GV (Google Ventures), Andreessen Horowitz, Earlybird Venture Capital, and DFJ. His global assignments since 2007 include clients such as Google, Eventbrite, Skyscanner, Nubank, Unity, Zalando, Qualtrics, D-Wave, SoundCloud, and YouTube. Prior to launching Motive in 2015, Brent was a Partner with Parker Remick, where he contributed significantly to that search firm's growth and VC relations in the US and Europe.
With two decades of Silicon Valley experience as a founder, COO, and product leader, Brent especially loves serving innovative startups. His multiple ventures include a Bay Area ecommerce startup that achieved a Number 1 category ranking by BizRate — topping Amazon, Overstock, and 4,000+ other retailers in overall customer satisfaction.
Brent has published over 200 articles covering technology, dangerous travel, and more for Wired, National Geographic Adventure, and other media. (Oddball factoid: On assignment for Outside, he was the first journalist to snorkel with beluga whales in the Arctic.) For fun, he enjoys music (long ago taking First Place in Classical Guitar at two music festivals), canoeing with his sons, and playing competitive ice hockey.
Originally from Canada, Brent holds a dual-major in Sociology & Urban Studies from Brandeis University.
