Carla Smith, PhD LCSW LMFT has a wealth of experience in the mental health field. Carla began their career in 2012 as an Adjunct Faculty at Mercer University. In 2013, they became a Medical Hospice Social Worker at AccentCare, Inc. In 2014, they joined Mercer University School of Medicine as Director of Clinical Education and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences - MFT Program. In 2017, they founded Brownstone Consulting, LLC and served as CEO and Senior Consultant. In 2018, they became a Licensure Consultant at Motivo, the largest platform for therapist tele-supervision. In 2020, they founded Haven Therapy of Atlanta, LLC and served as CEO and Licensed Therapist. In 2022, they returned to Motivo as Chief Clinical Officer and Director of Continuing Education.

Carla Smith, PhD LCSW LMFT has an impressive educational background. Carla earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Human Development and Family Science/Marriage and Family Therapy from The University of Georgia between 2008 and 2014. Additionally, they earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) in Clinical Social Work from The University of Georgia between 2006 and 2008. Carla also earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English Literature from Rutgers University between 2001 and 2005.

Carla Smith, PhD LCSW LMFT also has several certifications. Carla obtained a Social Justice Training Certificate from the Social Justice Training Institute in July 2016. Carla also obtained a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage & Family Therapists in January 2015. Additionally, they obtained a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist from the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage & Family Therapists in January 2015.
