Julie Almacy serves as the Vice President of Media and Communications at George Washington's Mount Vernon since February 2016, overseeing strategic communications, marketing, digital media, and promotions to maintain Mount Vernon's status as a premier tourist destination. Prior roles include Director of Public Affairs at Mount Vernon, where Julie developed promotional opportunities and programming, and Manager of the Mount Vernon Leadership Fellows program. Previous experience encompasses positions as Assistant Director for the Inside Washington program at Miami University, Communications Director for two U.S. Congress members, and Executive Director of the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia. Julie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from Miami University and a Master of Arts in Broadcast Journalism and Public Affairs from American University.

George Washington’s Mount Vernon is the historic home of George and Martha Washington, located 13 miles south of Washington, DC. Guests can see the historic mansion, stately rooms, and outbuildings preserved to the year 1799, the last year of George Washington’s life. Owned and operated by the Mount Vernon Ladies Association, George Washington’s Mount Vernon has been visited by world leaders since its opening to the public in the 1860s . In addition to the mansion, one can visit our beautiful gardens, a working farm engaged in 18th century agriculture, two museums, heritage breed animals, and the most majestic view across the Potomac River. We also welcome guests to dine at our Mount Vernon Inn or grab a meal at our Food Court Pavilion.
