Cathay Dawkins

Cathay Dawkins is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in business operations, landscape design, and marketing. Currently serving as the Business Operations Consultant and Business Operations Manager at Movement School, Cathay transitioned from an Art Teacher to a leadership role within the organization. As President of the Charlotte Mecklenburg BLACK CHAMBER of Commerce since June 2024, Cathay previously held the position of Executive Director at BBOC for nearly a decade. With over 10 years of expertise in Professional Landscape Design, Cathay also operated as the Principal Landscape Designer at The Yard Whisperers. Prior marketing roles include serving as Senior Brand Strategist for Biden for President and Marketing Strategist for Mike Bloomberg’s campaign. Cathay has contributed to significant events with Black Enterprise Magazine and served as Public Arts Commissioner for Mecklenburg County. Academically, Cathay holds a Bachelor of Architecture in Landscape Architecture from Clemson University.
