Amyn Sheriff

Amyn Sheriff has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Amyn is currently the Director of Engineering at Movius since 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Navis as a Senior Manager, DevOps from 2020 to 2023. At Navis, they were responsible for managing software used by shipping terminals worldwide. Before Navis, Amyn was a Senior Manager, DevOps at Shopkick from 2018 to 2019, where they successfully migrated the company to Google Cloud Platform.

From 2016 to 2018, Amyn worked at Deem, Inc. as a Senior Staff Engineer, helping the company modernize its application deployment process. Prior to Deem, they were the Co-founder (CTO) of OLSET - Acquired By Deem Inc. from 2012 to 2016. At OLSET, they developed a solution for categorizing hotels and leisure products based on user reviews.

Before OLSET, Amyn co-founded Hydil in 2010, where they handled various responsibilities including technology and vendor selection, defining architecture, and developing system backend. Amyn also worked at Zynga as a Senior Software Engineer in 2010.

Amyn started their career at Microsoft, where they worked as an Integration Architect from 2008 to 2010. In this role, they developed a system for generating voice recognition grammars from web search data. Prior to Microsoft, they worked at Tellme Networks, Inc. as an Integration Architect from 2006 to 2008, also focusing on voice recognition technologies.

Amyn's earliest work experience was at Travelocity, where they worked as a System Analyst from 2001 to 2005. During their time at Travelocity, they integrated a rule-based system for mixing travel and leisure products, enhancing the company's competitiveness in the market.

Amyn Sheriff attended Simon Fraser University from 1987 to 1995 and earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Computing Science.
