James Downs

James Downs is an experienced professional in the fields of mental health and education, currently serving as a Patient Representative at The Royal College of Psychiatrists and as an Ambassador for MQ Mental Health Research. With a background in participatory design, James works as a Lived Experience Designer for Mind, co-creating models involving individuals with lived experience of mental health issues. Additionally, James holds a position as an Associate Lecturer at The Open University, focusing on Childhood Studies and Child Psychology. Prior roles include Co-Chair of the Clinical Network for Eating Disorders at NHS England and various positions in community-based mental health initiatives. James has a robust educational foundation with degrees from the University of Cambridge and London Metropolitan University. Responsibilities as a yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance complement a diverse skill set focused on mental health advocacy and education.
