Kathleen Gorteman has extensive experience in laboratory and research roles. Kathleen began their career in 1988 as a Technician/Senior Technician at Innogenetics NV, where they were responsible for supporting the Department of Nephrology of UIA and worked as a team member on the development of New Product Development projects of DNA multi-parameter IVD assays on the Line Probe Assay (LiPA) platform in the field of infectious diseases. Kathleen learned cell culture (hybridoma technology), RNA/DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, probe optimization and specific LiPA techniques, and achieved successes with the launch of INNO-LiPA Rif. TB and INNO-LiPA HCV II, and the VERSANT HCV Genotype Assay 2. In 2005, they returned to Innogenetics NV as a Researcher/Product Developer, where they were responsible for executing New Product Development projects of DNA multi-parameter IVD assays on the Line Probe Assay (LiPA) platform in the field of infectious diseases. In 2013, they moved to Fujirebio Europe NV as a Developer, where they were responsible for executing New Product Development of immunoassays for in vitro diagnostics (IVD) on the LUMIPULSE™ G system in the field of neurodegeneration. Kathleen wrote protocols and reports for the verification and validation of the assay, compliant with CLSI guidelines and internal Design Control Procedures. In 2017, they joined MyCartis as a Research Associate. In 2020, they moved to Antelope Dx as a Lab Coordinator/Sr Research Associate, where they were responsible for organizing internal inventories, purchasing all lab-related material, monitoring of timely delivery, inspecting products and archiving purchase-related documents. Kathleen also served as a liaison between the laboratory and Quality Assurance, writing, improving, and implementing laboratory work instructions, and acting as an eQMS administrator (EMDS, Greenlight guru) for uploading quality documents and records. In 2021, they joined MRM Health as a Lab Coordinator.

Kathleen Gorteman attended Katholieke Hogeschool 'Sint-Lieven', Gent from 1983 to 1986, where they received a Bachelor in Clinical Chemistry.
