Kohinur Khyum

Kohinur Khyum is a multifaceted professional with a strong background in journalism and research. Currently serving as a Research Assistant at UMass Boston since September 2022, Kohinur also works as a Staff Reporter for Dhaka Tribune since March 2019 and has held an Editorial Intern position at Ms. Magazine since July 2018. Previous experience includes a role as Sub-Editor at Prothom Alo from February 2015 to June 2017 and as a Reporter for The Independent BD from January 2014 to January 2015. Kohinur is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Forced Marriage in South Asian Culture at UMass Boston, expected to be completed in April 2026, while also studying for a Master’s Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice at Dhaka University. Kohinur previously earned a Master’s degree in Magazine, Newspaper, and Online Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature from East West University.
