Rick Bookstaber is an accomplished risk management expert with extensive experience across various financial institutions and advisory roles. Currently serving as the Director of Risk Research at MSCI Inc. since January 2024, Rick is focused on developing advanced risk methodologies for the financial community. Previous positions include co-founder and Head of Risk at Fabric and Chief Risk Officer at the University of California Office of the President, where collaboration with CIO Jagdeep Bachher involved managing a pension and endowment exceeding $170 billion. Rick held significant roles during their tenure at U.S. Department of Treasury and SEC during the Obama Administration, Bridgewater Associates during the 2008 Crisis, FrontPoint Partners, Ziff Brothers Investments, Moore Capital Management, Salomon Brothers, and Morgan Stanley, where foundational contributions to risk management evolved. Rick holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BA in Economics from Brigham Young University.
