HK Chan has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. They started their career at MTR Corporation Limited in 2008 as an LRV & Bus Manager, and progressively took on higher positions such as Fleet Performance & Development Manager, Train Service Engineering Manager, and Deputy General Manager - Train Service & System Engineering. In 2021, they became the General Manager of the Engineering & Innovation Centre at MTR. HK Chan also holds various advisory and council positions, including being a Council Member at MTR Academy, a member of the Industrial Advisory Committees at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and a board member of the Transport and Logistics Training Board at Vocational Training Council. They have also served as a board member of the Electrical and Mechanical Services Training Board at Vocational Training Council from 2016 to 2018.
HK Chan completed a Master of Science in Engineering degree from The University of Hong Kong from 1996 to 1998. Prior to that, from 1991 to 1994, they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. In addition to their formal education, HK Chan obtained certifications including CEng from the Engineering Council in December 2000, MHKIE from The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers in September 2000, and MIMechE from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in June 2000.
