Varian Ignatius has an extensive work experience in the field of communications and strategic management. Varian is currently serving as the Head of Communications & External Relations at Mubadala Energy since September 2022. Prior to that, they held the position of Deputy Director, Strategic Communications at Bank Negara Malaysia from September 2021 to May 2022.

From 2020 to 2021, Varian worked as the Head of Communications in the Digital Transformation Office at PETRONAS. During their tenure, they successfully implemented high-impact communication strategies, handled crisis communication, and transformed internal communication processes, resulting in increased employee engagement and alignment with the company's goals.

Before joining PETRONAS, Varian served as the Head of Communications Management at PETRONAS Digital Sdn Bhd from 2018 to 2019. In this role, they achieved significant milestones in enhancing the company's reputation and success through effective communication strategies.

Varian's career began at Qatar Petroleum in 2009, where they served as an Executive Officer in the Office of the President & CEO, and later as a Senior Communications Specialist until 2015. Varian gained extensive knowledge about energy affairs and developed expertise in commercial and geopolitical analysis.

Before joining Qatar Petroleum, Varian worked as a Marketing Communications Manager at Synovate from 2007 to 2009, and as an Account Manager at essence Burson-Marsteller from 2004 to 2006.

Varian Ignatius earned a Master of Arts degree in International Policy and Diplomacy from Staffordshire University from 2017 to 2019. Prior to that, from 1999 to 2003, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Communications from Auckland University of Technology. Their high school education was completed from 1992 to 1996 at St. Xaviers Institution Penang, where they achieved a High School Certificate.
