Elizabeth Hughes has extensive experience in research and academia, primarily in the fields of pediatrics and psychology. Elizabeth has worked at various institutions including the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute, University of Melbourne, The Royal Children's Hospital, Monash University, and the Australian Institute of Family Studies. In their roles, Elizabeth has served as a Design Lead, Deputy Stream Lead, Senior Research Fellow, Honorary Fellow, Manager, Research Coordinator, Adjunct Research Fellow, Research Fellow, and Consultant Research Officer. Elizabeth has also contributed to numerous research projects and studies. Elizabeth's expertise and contributions span a wide range of areas including survey methodology, longitudinal and lifecourse studies, eating disorders, and child development.

Elizabeth Hughes completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Psychology from Monash University in 2008.
