Kate Scarff has extensive work experience in the field of clinical research and development. Kate worked as a Clinical Research Development Office Lead at M, where they led a team and facilitated the delivery of high-quality clinical research. Kate also developed strategies and policies, provided support to clinical researchers, and identified areas for improvement in clinical trials and public health research. Prior to this, they were a Senior Project Officer, responsible for developing research governance frameworks and guidelines. Kate also worked as a Clinical Research Development Officer at M and as an Ethics Support/Data Manager at The Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne. Additionally, they had freelance experience as a Journalist and served as a Media Liaison at Ivanhoe Community Food Garden. Earlier in their career, Kate worked at CSL as a Medical Writer, Clinical Program Manager, Senior Clinical Research Associate, and Clinical Research Associate.

Kate Scarff completed a Graduate Diploma of Journalism at La Trobe University in 2011. Kate also holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Immunology from Monash University, which they earned between 1992 and 1997.
