EVP & COO, Missouri Operations at Murphy Company

Tom Skaggs, the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer – Missouri Operations, has been a member of the Murphy team for over 25 years. Tom led safety efforts for Murphy Company for many years, moving into a broader Missouri operations role in 2014. Tom was first introduced to the complexities and importance of world-class safety performance while working in the nuclear weapon division of the U.S. Air Force, where his responsibilities included performing and overseeing maintenance of 150 Minuteman II ICBM’s and their relative Launch Control Facilities. Tom’s leadership and performance of those under his direction earned him the designation of Master Team Chief. He oversaw Murphy’s safety program for two decades, building the company’s training program and establishing an enviable safety record in the industry. He also started and served as general manager, and then, COO of QualSafe Solutions, a subsidiary division of Murphy Company that provides safety related services to owners and other construction companies. Tom is chairman of the National Safety and Health Committee for the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA), which represents approximately 2,600 firms. Tom is the proud father of an active third grader and helps coach his son’s Little League football team that recently won their grade’s SuperBowl. He enjoys hunting and fishing, and writing and playing music. He is an accomplished guitarist and has composed over 50 original instrumental pieces.
