Hiuwai Chu

Hiuwai Chu is an experienced professional in the field of contemporary art, currently serving as the Head of Exhibitions and Curator at the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) since June 2006. In this role, Hiuwai Chu manages a team of seven, supervises departmental projects, and coordinates interdepartmental strategies, collaborating closely with the Director on the exhibition program while engaging in strategic partnerships to expand the institution's reach. Notable exhibitions curated include works by Wu Tsang, Lydia Ourahmane, Daniel Steegmann Mangrané, and Bouchra Khalili. Earlier experience includes roles as Curator for exhibitions featuring Andrea Fraser and Akram Zaatari, Gallery Manager at Kowasa Gallery, Associate Editor at Aperture Foundation, and Project Coordinator at Art Horizons. Hiuwai Chu holds a BA in Anthropology from Barnard College, Columbia University, obtained in 1996.
