Elsa Thyss

Elsa Thyss currently serves as the Associate Conservator of Photographs at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) since November 2022. Prior experience includes a position as the Andrew W. Mellon Fellow in Photograph Conservation at the Art Institute of Chicago from September 2019 to September 2022, and a Research Scholar role focusing on American glass plate negatives at The Metropolitan Museum of Art from September 2016 to August 2019. Additional experience encompasses an internship at The Art Institute of Chicago, an internship at ARCP in Paris, and roles at the Reykjavík Museum of Photography and Jeu de paume. Elsa Thyss holds a Master's degree in Conservation-Restauration du patrimoine with a specialization in photography from l'Institut national du patrimoine and a Licence in the History of Art with a focus on the history of photography from Ecole Du Louvre.
