Art Integration Specialist And Teaching Artist at MUSEUM ASSOCIATES

Katie Lipsitt has a diverse range of work experience in the field of arts education. Katie started their career as an assistant teacher at Open Magnet School in 2011 and worked there until 2013. Katie then transitioned to Environmental Charter Schools, where they served as an art teacher from 2013 to 2015. At this role, they focused on creating art projects that aligned with students' social studies topics.

In 2015, Katie joined the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) as a teaching artist. Katie collaborated with magnet teachers to develop arts-integrated curriculum and taught these lessons to magnet classes. Katie also designed and coordinated professional development sessions to support magnet teachers in implementing arts integration.

While working at LACMA, Katie also served as a teaching artist in the museum's Evening for Educators program. In this role, they facilitated art workshops and provided instruction to educators.

Katie's work as a teaching artist extended beyond LACMA. Katie Lipsitt's education history begins with their completion of high school at St. Ann's School, where they obtained their high school diploma from 1973 to 1985. Katie then pursued their Bachelor of Arts degree at Barnard College, specializing in Fine Art and Art History, during the period of 1985 to 1989. Finally, Katie attended the Art Center College of Design from 1991 to 1995, where they obtained their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, concentrating on Printmaking and Illustration.
