Staci Steinberger

Curator, Decorative Arts And Design at MUSEUM ASSOCIATES

Staci Steinberger has a strong background in curatorial work, with extensive experience in the decorative arts and design field. Staci began their career at the Carnegie Museum of Art as a Curatorial Intern in 2005. Staci then went on to work as a Curatorial Intern at the Archives of American Art at the Smithsonian Institution in 2006, where they conducted research for an exhibition. From 2007 to 2009, Staci worked as a Student Guide/Apprentice Guide at the Winterthur Museum.

In 2009, Staci joined the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) as a Curatorial Assistant in the Decorative Arts and Design department. During their time at LACMA, they worked on various projects, including the California Design exhibition series in 2011-2014 and the Found in Translation: Design in California and Mexico exhibition in 2017. Staci also served as the project lead for LACMA's initiative to collect and exhibit graphic design, which resulted in a significant growth of the collection.

Staci's role at LACMA progressed over the years, and they were promoted to Assistant Curator in 2013 and then to Associate Curator in 2017. In their current role, they are involved in curating exhibitions and projects related to modern and contemporary California design and architecture, including upcoming shows on activist graphics and ceramics.

Staci Steinberger earned a Bachelor of Humanities and Arts degree in American Studies and Material & Visual Culture from Carnegie Mellon University in 2007. Staci then pursued a Master of Arts degree in the Winterthur Program in American Material Culture at the University of Delaware, completing their studies in 2009.
