Head Of Audience Insights at Te Papa

Samuele De Stefani has extensive work experience in various roles. From 2018 onwards, they joined the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, starting as a Research Assistant and progressing to the positions of Audience Insights Advisor. Samuele later became the Head of Audience Insights (acting), and currently holds the position of Head of Audience Insights.

In addition to their work at the Museum, they served as an Investment Committee Member at Momentum-Powered By UniServices from 2018 to 2021.

Prior to these roles, Samuele was a PHD Student at Victoria University of Wellington from 2016 to 2021.

Samuele also gained experience in the museum and hospitality industry through positions such as Gallery Supervisor at the New Zealand Portrait Gallery, Museum Supervisor at Katherine Mansfield House and Garden, and Supervisor/Front of House Team Leader at James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor.

Before moving to New Zealand, they worked as a Customer Service Executive/Hotel Department Specialist at Booking.com from 2013 to 2014. Samuele also served as Coordinator at Chiamamilano from 2010 to 2012, and completed a Broadcasting Internship at Radio Italia S.p.A. in 2007-2008.

Samuele De Stefani completed a Bachelor of Arts in Business/Managerial Economics at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore from 2003 to 2007. Samuele then pursued a Master of Arts in Management of Arts and Cultural Heritage (Economics for Environment and Culture) at the same institution from 2008 to 2010. Finally, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Museums and Heritage Studies from Victoria University of Wellington from 2016 to 2019.
