James Mcleod is currently the Principal at My Inhouse Lawyer. Prior to that, they were the Sole Legal Counsel, Head of Compliance and Risk at AES International from January 2013 to April 2020. In that role, they were responsible for ensuring compliance with financial services law and regulation, scanning for legal and regulatory changes and managing necessary changes, tightening contracts, drafting derisking policies, working with the operational departments, IT, and HR, GDPR, managing dispute resolution. From July 2008 to December 2012, James was a Senior Associate at Herbert Smith Freehills where they provided corporate and regulatory legal advice on matters including employment (HR), privacy dispute resolution, corporate and asset sales and purchases, due diligence, auto-enrolment, training junior staff and other departments, general business development (articles and talks/lectures/seminars). Prior to that James was an Associate at SJ Berwin from September 2001 to July 2008. Before embarking on their legal career, James was a Civil Servant at the Ministry of Defence of UK from September 1991 to September 1999. James also served as a Captain in the Scots Guards in The British Army from May 1985 to February 1991.
James McLeod earned a Bachelor of Arts in Classical and Ancient Studies from Oriel College, Oxford. James then attended the University of Law to earn a PGDL in Law. After graduation, they attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst to earn a Post-graduate Diploma in Law with a commendation from the College of Law.
James Mcleod reports to Twiggy Harding, Co-Founder. They work with Chris Groves - Principal, Kelli Read - Principal, and David Roberts - Principal.
