Andrew Ayers

Director of Algae Impact at MyLand Agriculture

Andrew Ayers has a long history of work experience in the agricultural and bioscience fields. In 2015, they were the Director of Algae Impact for MyLand Agricultural Soil Health Systems. From 2013 to 2015, they worked as a Part Owner for International IP Holdings, where they consulted on algae production for nutritional supplements, food, fuel and fertilizer. Andrew also developed and licensed algal clones for commercial use and designed photo-bioreactors for the production of unicellular marine and freshwater algae. From 2004 to 2013, they were the President/CEO of Algae Biosciences Inc./Corp, where they formed Algal Technologies, Inc. and commercialized the production of nutraceutical input and other algae based products. From 1987 to 2004, they were a Research Scientist for Granada Biosciences, where they redesigned algae culture operations at commercial shrimp farms in Panama and Columbia, discovered and produced new strains of algae, produced and maintained axenic algal cultures, set up and operated a shrimp hatchery using artificial seawater in a closed system, produced and tested experimental vaccines and diets, and conducted bacteriological and other laboratory tests in the investigation of fish and shrimp diseases.

Andrew Ayers attended Arizona State University from 1975 to 1980, where they received a BS in Zoology and a Bachelor of Science in 1980. Andrew then attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa from 1981 to 1987, where they earned an MS in Zoology.
