Venkatesh, or Venky for short, till recently was a principal data scientist with the data science R&D team at the Shell Technology Center, Bangalore, India, where he worked on the design, development and deployment of machine learning based predictive models for a variety of Shell assets. He led a team that successfully deployed, in real-time, a monitoring tool for anomaly detection of two Shell assets.
Prior to joining shell, Venky was a senior engineer at the GE global research center, Bangalore, India, where he worked at the prognostic systems laboratory developing Bayesian based predictive models for such GE applications as transportation, aircraft engines, water, distributed power, to name a few. Venky holds a PhD in aerospace engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
His doctoral thesis focused on neural network based adaptive estimation for missile-target tracking and obstacle avoidance applications. In his spare time he enjoys running and a bit of volleyball.
