Assistant Director - Strategic Business Initiatives at National Association of Insurance Commissioners

Jim Pinegar has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Jim most recently worked at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) as an Assistant Director - Strategic Business Initiatives. Prior to this, they held the position of Senior Manager - Statutory Accounting Policy at NAIC, where they served as a senior consultant and liaison for the Statutory Accounting Principles Working Group (SAPWG).

Before joining NAIC, Jim held the position of Vice President - Finance & Administration - Insurance Division at AOPA, where they were responsible for financial and operational oversight of the Insurance Services operations. Jim was also responsible for all financial operations and oversaw the technology infrastructure of the organization.

Earlier in their career, Jim served as the Chief Financial Officer of InfoSync Services, a multi-million-dollar accounting outsourcing company. Jim was responsible for various activities, including strategic planning, financial reporting, risk management, and operations process improvement.

Jim also worked as a Senior Internal Auditor at U.S. AgBank, where they had responsibility over continuous business process review and compliance for a GSE with assets in excess of $25 billion. Jim supported the CEO and CAE on all aspects of risk management operations.

Jim's career started at KPMG, where they worked in the Audit & Tax division. Jim managed and directed audits for public and private companies, with a focus on the manufacturing industry. Jim also drafted and produced federal and state income tax returns for a variety of entities.

Overall, Jim Pinegar has a strong background in finance, accounting, and risk management, with experience in both the private and public sectors.

Jim Pinegar completed their Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Accounting from Washburn University from 2000 to 2003. Jim later pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration from Washburn University from 2003 to 2004. Jim also holds several additional certifications, including Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from the Kansas Board of Accountancy, Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) from the AICPA, and a Commercial Aircraft Pilot license from the Federal Aviation Administration.
