Micayla George has a diverse work experience in various research and laboratory settings. Micayla started their career as a Lab Assistant at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute in 2015. Micayla then worked as a Cashier and Food Handler at Firehouse Kettle Corn from 2015 to 2017. In 2016, they served as a Teaching Assistant and Social Media Manager at Design Code Build, assisting students with coding assignments and managing social media accounts. At Pomona College, Micayla held multiple roles including Music Librarian, Introduction to Genetics Mentor, and Summer Research Intern from 2016 to 2018.
In 2018, they worked as a Research Assistant at UCSD for two months and then moved to UCL where they served as a Research Assistant for four months. From 2019 to 2020, they conducted molecular biology research as a Research Assistant at Pomona College, which culminated in their senior thesis for their bachelor's degree in molecular biology.
In 2020, Micayla joined the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT, and Harvard as a Research Technician. Micayla worked on projects related to HIV and SARS-CoV-2, learning new experimental techniques and computational skills. Micayla also contributed as a co-author for current and forthcoming publications. Currently, Micayla is a Research Associate at NanoCellect Biomedical, Inc., starting in 2022.
Micayla George attended Pomona College from 2016 to 2020, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree with a major in Molecular Biology.
