Materials R&D Lead at NanoTechLabs

Margaret Roylance has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Margaret started their career in 1969 as a Physicist/Research Physicist at the Army Research Lab, where they worked until 1995. From 1996 to 2004, Margaret held the position of Senior Engineer at Foster-Miller. In 2004, they joined the US Army Natick Soldier Research, Development, and Engineering Center as the Chief of the Materials Sciences and Engineering Branch, where they led a team of about 100 people in basic and applied research and development. In 2015, Margaret transitioned to the role of Senior Materials Scientist in the Science, Technology and Innovation Division at NSRDEC, where they collaborated with other researchers and led a strategic R&D program. Margaret also has experience in other organizations such as NanoTechLabs Inc., where they served as the Materials R&D Lead, and Voice of the Faithful, where they are a member of the Child Abuse Prevention team. In addition, Margaret has contributed to the Composite Materials Handbook-17 as the Co-chair of the Materials and Processing Working Group.

Margaret Roylance has an impressive education history. Margaret first attended the University of Utah from 1964 to 1968, where they obtained an Honors BA with a double major in English and Physics. Following this, they pursued further studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, earning an SMCE in Civil Engineering/Materials from 1970 to 1973. Margaret's thirst for knowledge did not stop there, as they returned to MIT to complete their PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from 1973 to 1980.
