Debbie Russell

Debbie Russell was appointed the sixth Head of School at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy by the Board of Trustees on April 15, 2013. Mrs. Russell previously served as the Director of Admissions for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy. Prior to joining NSA, Mrs. Russell had over 20 years of experience working in consulting, investment banking, and commercial banking in New York City, Charlotte, Frankfurt, and Berlin. Previously, Mrs. Russell was a Senior Finance Director for the Global Financial Operations group of Bearing Point, Inc, based out of McLean, Virginia. There she was responsible for identifying, tracking, and advising on all of Bearing Point's international projects as well as managing and accounting for more than 5,000 international consultants each year. Mrs. Russell has an International Master’s of Business Administration degree with a concentration in International Finance and German from the University of South Carolina. She also holds a Bachelor’s of Science of Business Administration from Bowling Green State University and received Intensive Business Language Training from Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft in Cologne, Germany. She is a 2007 graduate of Lead Hampton Roads. In 2007, Mrs. Russell was recognized by the Hampton Roads Inside the Business journal, as a Top 40 Under 40 honoree. She has been a lifelong volunteer working with organizations such as the Junior League, the Virginia Symphony, Habitat for Humanity, ForKids Homeless Shelters, Junior Achievement, March of Dimes, Leukemia Society of America, Girl Scouts of America, and the YMCA.
