Vice Chair Of Events at NANSIG

Ashviniy Thamilmaran is a dedicated medical student pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Neuroscience at UCL. Currently serving as the Vice Chair of Events for NANSIG, Ashviniy oversees the National Workshop Leads, Conference Lead, and Mentorship Lead, while also contributing as a Co-Workshop Lead for various events. As a Scholar with Medic Mentor, Ashviniy guides year 12 to 13 students through the medical school application process and previously held the position of Research Lead for the National MedSoc Committee. Additional experience includes roles as Secretary for NeusMENT, Neurosurgery and Radiology Lead at ACAMEDICS LTD, and Research Officer for Student MedAid London, focusing on improving access to medical resources in low-income areas. Ashviniy's background encompasses a summer research internship at the Sainsbury Wellcome Centre and participation in multiple medical societies, enhancing both leadership and research skills within the field of medicine.

NANSIG

Established in 2010, the Neurology and Neurosurgery Interest Group (NANSIG) allows medical students and junior doctors to gain relevant insight and experience in Neurology and Neurosurgery. We manage over 700 members nationally, providing educational material, mentoring facilities and seminars which facilitate student career development including our annual careers day which attracts in excess of 100 delegates. We also work with university societies across the country through our national network of university representatives. As the largest group of its kind, we are proud to work in partnership with the Society of British Neurosurgeons and the Association of British Neurologists
