Juan-Pablo Ortega

Juan-Pablo Ortega is currently serving as the Lee Soo Ying Professor of Mathematics and Head of the Division of Mathematical Sciences at Nanyang Technological University Singapore, along with being the Associate Chair of Faculty in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Concurrently, Ortega has held a position as a researcher at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) since 2001 and is a Foreign Academic at the Fundación Real Academia de Ciencias de España since 2021. In early 2024, Ortega will join the University of Pretoria as an Extraordinary Professor. Previous roles include co-director of the Data Science Fundamentals program and Big Data Project Leader at the University of St. Gallen from 2016 to 2021, and First Assistant at EPFL from 1998 to 2001. Ortega holds a PhD and MA in Mathematics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and an Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches from Université Côte d'Azur, along with a Licenciatura in Theoretical Physics from Universidad de Zaragoza.
