Kathy Xu

Kathy Xu is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in education, communication, and environmental advocacy. As the Founder and Director of The Dorsal Effect since 2013, Kathy promotes ecotourism in Indonesia to support shark conservation and healthier marine ecosystems. Alongside this role, Kathy serves as an Associate Lecturer at Kaplan Higher Education and Ngee Ann Polytechnic, teaching critical thinking and world issues, and as an Adjunct Lecturer at Singapore Polytechnic focusing on sustainable innovation. Additional experience includes roles as a Science Communicator for Sea Women Expeditions and a Part-time Story Writer for Kontinentalist, specializing in marine and environmental journalism. Kathy's background in education spans roles as an Education Officer and Assistant Language Teacher, complemented by a series of academic qualifications including a Master's in Science Communication from both the National University of Singapore and The Australian National University.
