Rachel Atherton (CIPP-E)

Rachel Atherton (CIPP-E) has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Rachel began their career as a Senior Buyer at Prudential PLC, where they managed procurement input for a large outsourcing project. Rachel then joined Addleshaw Goddard LLP as an Associate, specializing in legal matters. Moving on, Rachel worked as a Solicitor at Astaphans Chambers before transitioning to Diamond Resorts™ as an in-house lawyer. At Diamond Resorts™, they drafted and provided advice on commercial contracts, supported HR teams, and led the GDPR/data protection compliance and privacy program for the European business. Currently, Rachel is employed at Napthens LLP, where they hold the position of Legal Director.

Rachel Atherton has a diverse education history. In 1994, they attended the University of Hull and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Philosophy in 1997. Following this, in 2000, they enrolled at London Metropolitan University and completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Purchasing from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply in 2002. Subsequently, from 2004 to 2006, Rachel attended The Manchester Metropolitan University, where they pursued a Graduate Diploma in Law and LPC. Most recently, in 2018, they attended the International Association of Privacy Professionals and acquired a CIPP/E certification in Privacy.
