Annie Shelton

Annie Shelton is a Junior Project Specialist for the Jinkerson Lab at Bourns College of Engineering, University of California, Riverside, where involvement includes leading fungi experiments for NASA's Deep Space Food Challenge and exploring plant growth in confined environments. As a researcher for the Planetary Research Laboratory, emphasis is placed on habitability metrics for exoplanets through climate simulation results. Annie is also a researcher and Communications Director for the SALAD project, focusing on space agriculture technology development, while serving as a visiting scholar for the Blue Marble Space Institute of Science. Additional roles include a student board member at ASGSR, responsible for website and social media coordination, and prior experience as a laboratory assistant and barista. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with a minor in Plant Biology from the University of California, Riverside and current pursuit of a Master of Professional Studies in Integrative Plant Science at Cornell University.
