David Alexander

Principle Medical Officer, Artemis - Orion Program

David Alexander is a Flight Surgeon at NASA, where they have served since 2003 and currently hold the position of Principal Medical Officer for the Artemis - Orion Program. Responsible for the medical care of astronauts and their families, they provide medical oversight for International Space Station expeditions and contribute to future designs. Prior to their work at NASA, David was the Chief Aerospace Medicine for the Texas Air National Guard from 2003 to 2011 and worked as a Plastic Model Construction Engineer from 2008 to 2013. David earned an MD in Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina and a BA in Biology and Chemistry from Covenant College. They also completed their training in Emergency Medicine at North Carolina Baptist Hospital.
