Scott VanBommel is a seasoned scientist with extensive experience in planetary science and research. Currently serving as a Participating Scientist for the MSL Curiosity Rover and Mars Rover Perseverance at NASA since November 2011, Scott has also held the role of APXS Payload Uplink/Downlink Lead for both the Curiosity and Opportunity Rovers. In addition to contributions at NASA, Scott has been a Senior Research Scientist at Washington University in St. Louis since May 2018, having previously served as a Research Scientist and Postdoctoral Fellow. Scott's academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Physics, a Master's Degree in Physics, and a Bachelor's Degree in Physics, all earned at the University of Guelph between 2006 and 2017. Prior professional experience includes work as a CAD Draftsman at CJDL Consulting Engineers from February 2006 to May 2008.
