Nashville Zoo
Alan Luken currently serves as an Aquarist at Nashville Zoo since September 2015, following a role as Assistant Manager and Head Aquarist at Monfort Aquarium from September 2008 to September 2015. In the latter position, responsibilities included store management, inventory oversight, customer relations, and social media management, along with ensuring the well-being of aquatic species and conducting research to enhance captive breeding success. Prior experience includes a position as Aquatics Intern at Newport Aquarium from May 2013 to August 2014, where Alan Luken gained practical knowledge in husbandry techniques for various aquatic animals and plants. Alan Luken holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Sciences from Coastal Carolina University, completed in 2015.

Nashville Zoo at Grassmere is a 188-acre institution accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) whose mission is to inspire a culture of understanding and discovery of our natural world through conservation, innovation and leadership. Located in the heart of Nashville, the zoo has an extensive animal collection within its current 88 acres of developed exhibits. The Zoo attracts more than one million visitors annually as well as serving a diverse community through outreach programs within greater Nashville and mid-Tennessee.
