Nora Luna has a diverse work experience spanning various fields. Nora began their career as a Student Intern at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 1994. Nora then worked as a Recreation Leader for Clark County, followed by a role as a Student Volunteer at the Nevada Department of Parole and Probation. Nora also served as an Evaluation Assistant at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and a Bilingual Instructional Assistant at the Clark County School District.
In 1995, Nora joined the YMCA Of Southern Nevada as a Program Director-Prevention Specialist. During this time, they also started working at the University of Nevada Reno as a Project Manager/Prevention Coordinator. Nora held multiple positions at the university, including Associate Director and Assistant Professor, School Retention Specialist.
In 2004, Nora became a Board Member at the State Public Charter School Authority. Nora later joined Nathan Adelson Hospice in 2011 as the Director of Diversity & Education, and eventually transitioned to the role of Director of Diversity and Grants.
Most recently, in 2019, Nora joined the University of Nevada, Reno - Cooperative Extension as the Clark County 4-H Faculty.
Throughout their career, Nora has held positions of leadership, managed training and technical assistance programs, and demonstrated a commitment to diversity and education.
Nora Luna pursued their education in a chronological manner, beginning with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas in an unspecified year. Following this, they obtained a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada. Nora then advanced their education by attending the University of Nevada, Reno, where they completed a Master of Education degree in Counseling and Educational Psychology before the year 2002. Lastly, they also made progress towards a Ph.D. in Higher Education at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas from 1990 to 1994.
