Julie Liao

Julie Liao is an accomplished scientist with extensive experience in research and project management within the biotechnology sector. Currently serving as Forum Director and Associate Program Officer at The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine since August 2020, Liao previously contributed to the Collaborative Drug Discovery as a contractor focused on data curation for antibiotic discovery. At Versatope Therapeutics, Liao advanced to Scientist III, managing multiple vaccine programs, authoring technical reports, and overseeing laboratory and CRO activities. A former post-doctoral research fellow at Boston Children's Hospital, Liao led innovative projects involving high-throughput screening and vaccine development. Earlier research endeavors at Binghamton University included investigating antibiotic tolerance mechanisms and participating in various teaching roles. Liao holds a Ph.D. in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Binghamton University.
