Jim Wilson, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations and roles. Jim currently serves as the AVP of Political Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement at the National Apartment Association (NAA), where they oversee PAC and grassroots operations. Jim has successfully expanded NAAPAC receipts and disbursements for three consecutive years. Prior to their current position, they worked as the Director of Political Affairs at NAA, where they managed PAC and grassroots advocacy. Before joining NAA, Jim was the Manager of Political Education Programs at the American Medical Association, where they designed and executed political education programs for their 200,000+ members. Jim also served as a Public Affairs Specialist at the Federal Election Commission, where they designed and executed outreach programs to ensure compliance with federal campaign finance laws. Jim began their career as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh, where they taught public speaking and small group deliberation skills to university students. Throughout their career, Jim has demonstrated strong leadership and expertise in political affairs and stakeholder engagement.
Jim Wilson, PhD, attended Regis High School for their secondary education. From 1990 to 1994, they studied American Studies at Georgetown University, earning their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued further education at the University of Pittsburgh, where they completed their Master of Arts (MA) degree in Rhetoric and Communication from 1994 to 1995. Continuing their academic journey, Jim Wilson obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Rhetoric and Communication from the University of Pittsburgh, where they studied from 1995 to 2000. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including "Having Difficult Conversations: A Guide for Managers," "Essential Lessons for First-Time Managers," and "Time Management for Managers" from LinkedIn in 2022.
