Dave Ryer has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Dave most recently served as the Director of Business Operations and Security at the National Aquarium since August 2017, where they managed relationships with business partners and supported budgeting and reporting efforts. Prior to that, they held the position of Managing Director, Administration and Technology at the Maryland Department of Business & Economic Development from April 2009 to August 2015. Dave also held various roles within the same department, including Deputy Director of ITM and Enterprise Architect, IT Systems and Enterprise Architect, Data Management Services Manager, IT Client Services Liaison, Data Administrator and Information Analyst, and Documentation Specialist and Technical Writer. Before their time at the Maryland Department of Business & Economic Development, Dave worked as a Business Development and Training Consultant at Bankmark School of Business, a Writer/Reporter at North Jersey Newspapers Company, a Marketing Support, Graphic Design and Development, and Copywriter at Fran's Wicker, and provided accounting support at Hooper Holmes, Inc.
Dave Ryer began their education at County College of Morris in 1995, where they earned an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Journalism in 1997. Dave then continued their studies at Rutgers University from 1997 to 1999, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Communication. In 2009, Dave enrolled at the University of Maryland Global Campus and completed a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Technology Management in 2011. Dave furthered their education at the same institution, earning a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from 2011 to 2013.
