Richard Hershman has extensive experience in government relations and legislative affairs. Richard served as the Vice President of Government Relations at the National Association of College Stores from 2003 to present, and prior to that, they were the Director of Government Relations for the same organization from 2003 to 2011. Richard also held the position of Vice President for Legislative Affairs at Knowledge Alliance from 1997 to 2003. Additionally, they worked as a Policy Analyst at the Council for Educational Development and Research (CEDaR) from 1994 to 1997. Currently, they are a member of the Illinois College Course Materials Affordability and Equitable Access Collaborative Study Task Force, appointed by the Governor.

Richard Hershman obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Politics and Government from Ohio Wesleyan University between 1989 and 1993.
