Carl Bentzel is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in maritime and legal affairs. Currently serving as the President of the National Association of Waterfront Employers since December 2024, Bentzel previously held the position of Commissioner at the Federal Maritime Commission from December 2019 to December 2024. With a background that includes leadership roles such as Principal at Bentzel Strategies LLC and Vice President at DCI Group LLC, Bentzel has cultivated a strong expertise in maritime law and consulting. Carl began their career as Senior Democratic Counsel for the US Senate Commerce Committee. Bentzel holds a BA in History from St. Lawrence University, a JD from The University of Alabama, and an LLM in Admiralty Law from Tulane University.
