Carey Wentz

Bird Care Cooordinator at National Audubon Society

Carey Wentz has a diverse work experience, starting in 2008 as a DJ and Manager at Spinning Wheels Skate Center. In 2010, they started working at Petro - Iron Skillet as a Server, eventually taking on kitchen work and training new staff. From 2016 to 2017, Carey worked as a Server at Capn's Roadhouse. In 2017, they became a Store Manager at Family Video, focusing on improving sales achievements and team training. Carey joined Macaw Recovery Network in 2019, starting as a Scarlet Macaw Apprentice and later becoming an Assistant Bird Manager. As a Bird Manager, they were responsible for bird health, breeding, and managing volunteers. They also led Scarlet macaw post-release field research and managed field volunteers. In 2022, Carey joined the National Audubon Society as a Bird Care Coordinator.

Carey Wentz completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with a focus on Biological Sciences, emphasizing in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. This was accomplished between 2016 and 2018. Prior to that, between 2012 and 2015, Carey obtained their Associates of Arts and Sciences Degree in General Studies from the University of Wisconsin Colleges.

In addition to their educational background, Carey Wentz has obtained several certifications. In October 2019, they received a Wilderness/Remote Location First Aid and CPR certification from the National Safety Council. Furthermore, in June 2018, they acquired an Open Water Diver certification from PADI.
