Erik Johnson

Director, Conservation Science Audubon Delta at National Audubon Society

Erik Johnson has a diverse work experience in the field of conservation science and bird conservation. Erik started their career in 2011 as a Conservation Biologist, focusing on the Gulf of Mexico and Mississippi Flyway, at the National Audubon Society. In 2012, they transitioned into the role of Director of Bird Conservation for Audubon Louisiana. Erik held this position until January 2022. In July 2021, Erik took on the role of Director of Conservation Science for the Audubon Delta at the National Audubon Society. Alongside their work at the National Audubon Society, Erik also served as an Adjunct Research Faculty in Renewable Natural Resources at Louisiana State University in 2011.

Erik Johnson obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology and Environmental Studies from Dickinson College, where they attended from 1997 to 2001. Following this, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) at Louisiana State University, specializing in Wildlife, Fish, and Wildlands Science and Management, completing their studies from 2003 to 2011.
