Joey Kahn

Director, Communications at National Audubon Society

Joey Kahn has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. In 2008, Joey interned at KQED as a Forum Intern. In 2011, Joey was a Medill School of Journalism Resident at Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, and also served as a 2011 Corps Member at Teach for America. From 2013 to 2015, Joey held positions as a News Intern at WYPR and as a Multimedia and Social Media Specialist at America Abroad Media. Joey then worked as a Producer/Editor at WTOP News from 2013 to 2015. In 2015, Joey joined the City and County of San Francisco as a Media Relations & Policy Manager in the Recreation & Park Department. Finally, Joey went on to become a Communications Manager at the National Audubon Society in 2018, and later became the Director of Communications in September 2022.

Joey Kahn started their education journey in 2007 at Northwestern University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and History. Joey successfully completed their undergraduate studies and graduated in 2011. In 2011, Joey decided to further enhance their knowledge and skills by enrolling at The Johns Hopkins University. During their time there, they pursued a Master's degree in Urban Education, which they completed in 2013. After gaining expertise in urban education, Joey felt the need to delve deeper into the field of urban planning. Thus, in 2020, they enrolled at Arizona State University to pursue a Master of Urban and Environmental Planning, specializing in City/Urban, Community, and Regional Planning. Currently, Joey is expected to graduate from Arizona State University in 2022, adding another valuable qualification to their educational portfolio.
