Mike has been with Audubon New York since 1999, first as Forest Ecologist, then Director of Bird Conservation, and most recently as Director of Conservation & Science before being promoted to Managing Director in 2018. Based at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Ithaca, Mike is responsible for day-to-day management of Audubon New York staff and programs, including conservation, policy, communications, administration, and centers and education. Additionally, Mike helps coordinate Audubon’s Healthy Forests Initiative in the Atlantic Flyway. Prior to coming to Audubon, Mike earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Michigan where he studied climatic and physiological determinants of bird ranges and was supported by a Department of Energy Global Change Fellowship.
