Maha Hasebou

Maha Hasebou is a prominent figure in the Egyptian banking sector, serving as the General Manager of Strategy, Sustainability & Sustainable Finance Group at the National Bank of Egypt since February 2019. As the founder of Sustainable Banking & Finance as a business line, Maha has pioneered significant advancements in ESG practices, including the creation of a strategic roadmap for sustainable finance and integrated ESG reporting. Maha's expertise extends to risk management, transition finance, and advocacy for initiatives aligned with Egypt's climate goals, including innovative finance in green hydrogen and carbon regulations. Earlier roles include Deputy General Manager positions at the Central Bank of Egypt and Federation of Egyptian Banks, alongside extensive experience at Arab African International Bank, where Maha co-founded sustainable finance frameworks and compliance initiatives. Maha's education includes advanced studies in sustainable finance from the University of Cambridge and an Executive MBA from The American University in Cairo.
