Jishnu Das is a distinguished academic and economist, currently serving as a Distinguished Professor at Georgetown University. As of June 2024, Jishnu Das holds the position of Co-Chair and Board Member at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) and Board Member at the Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis of Development Inc (BREAD). Jishnu Das has also been a Faculty Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research since September 2021 and a Senior Fellow at BREAD since September 2017. Previously, Jishnu Das was a Professor at Georgetown University until April 2023 and a Visiting Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for a brief period in 2020. From 2013 to 2019, Jishnu Das served as Lead Economist in the Development Economics Research Group at The World Bank, following a tenure as Senior Economist at the organization from 2007 to 2013, where involvement included the World Development Report 2012 on Gender and Development. Jishnu Das earned a PhD in Economics from Harvard University and has educational credentials from the University of Cambridge and St. Stephen's College, Delhi.
