Mike Mallaro

Mike Mallaro is currently a Board Member at the National Center for Employee Ownership. Prior to that, they were with the Iowa Economic Development Authority - ESOP Advisory Panel, Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust, Grow Cedar Valley, Otto Schoitz Foundation, and VGM Group, Inc.

Mike started their career in 1985 as a Senior Manager with Deloitte & Touche. In 1997, they became the CFO of Gordmans, a regional retail chain. Mike was responsible for all financial matters and merchandise planning and allocation. Mike significantly helped turn the company around after it experienced some distress in 1997.

In 2001, they joined VGM Group, Inc. as their CFO. Mike served as a senior leader within the company, overseeing all aspects of their business. Mike led the company's transition to 100% employee-ownership via an ESOP and was significantly involved in company strategy, operations, brand development, and acquisitions. Mike served as Co-Trustee of the ESOP for eight years before leaving the company in 2015.

Mike Mallaro has a BBA in accounting from the University of Iowa and has completed the Penn-ESOP Executive Leadership Development Program at the ESOP Foundation-UPenn.
